Rehearsals
We rehearse twice per month, September through June. Musicians learn new tunes by ear – the traditional way! We support this with recordings that musicians use for home practice.
In rehearsal we not only work on tunes, but we also learn about culture, history, geography and folk traditions. We work on dance styling, ensemble skills, and technique.
Because we are a performing group, participants are asked to practice at home. Supports for practice include recordings, written rehearsal notes, and other materials as appropriate. How much practice time is needed varies by musician.
